Why health coaches can change the world.
With the obesity epidemic on the rise, so is chronic disease. It's important to start with some statistics to help you understand the health crisis that is going on in America (Statistics provided by Chris Kresser https://chriskresser.com/):
Six in 10 Americans now suffers from chronic disease.
Four in 10 suffers from multiple chronic diseases. Almost
30 percent of kids now have a chronic disease.
Do you see now why Health Coaches are more important now than ever? At Habit, health coaches work with you to set SMART goals (SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely), we help to hold you accountable, and to support you through the process of growth and transformation! This is a big deal, and isn't easy to do alone. We provide nutrition education, an individualized meal plan, as well as lifestyle balance tips. Getting your body composition analysis can be helpful for some people, so that you can measure your success. Non fatty liver ultrasounds can be provided, so that you can see how much visceral fat has spilled into the liver, which in turn can help motivate you to switch to a fat burning machine! Visceral fat is a type of body fat that's stored deep within the abdominal cavity. Once the belly is filled up it starts to wrap around vital organs, including the liver, heart, and intestines. Everyone has some visceral fat, but it's important to keep it at a healthy level to protect the organs, and keep inflammation at bay.
It's important to balance the blood sugar to keep inflammation at bay, and to find optimal health. Carbs/sugar spike your blood glucose, and create an insulin release from the pancreas. Glycogen is released from the liver, and whatever isn't burned by the liver turns to fat, and fills up the belly and organs. The more this happens the cells start to callous over, and this is what creates insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, and type II diabetes. Once the blood sugar spikes, a low is inevitable. This is called the blood sugar roller coaster. It can cause mood swings, hunger, cravings, inflammation, and fatigue. It is important to eat whole, real foods, and limit processed foods. Fiber, fat, and protein help to balance blood sugar, so if you do eat carbs make sure to include some healthy fat, fiber, and/or protein. Eating too much protein can increase the blood sugar, and kick you out of fat burn as well. Whatever protein doesn't get absorbed by the body turns to sugar, and causes an insulin release, so make sure you limit your protein to the size of your palm with each meal.
You deserve the right to feel your best! It is your birth right! You deserve to be excited to jump out of bed in the morning full of energy, excitement, and zest! Once your health starts to transform you will have a ripple effect on the rest of society, and can truly make an impact on the healing of the world.
